COVID cancels upcoming Actors Theater event

Due to several cast members testing positive for Covid 19, the Actors Theater of Orcas Island regrets to announce the cancellation of Making God Laugh by Sean Grenan at the Orcas Grange, scheduled for July 26-28 and August 2-4.

ATOI regrets the cancellation, but we prioritize the health and safety of the cast, crew and our patrons always.

MAKING GOD LAUGH
By Sean Grennan
Directed by Dorrie Braun

Company meeting/Read Through first week in June
Rehearsals June and July
Performances July 26-Aug 4

Plot:
‘Making God Laugh’ follows one typical American family over the course of 30 years’ worth of holidays. Starting in 1980, Ruthie and Bill’s grown children all return home, where we learn of their plans and dreams as they embark on their adult lives. The empty-nester parents contend with their own changes, too, as old family rituals are trotted out and ancient tensions flare up. As time passes, the family discovers that, despite what we may have in mind, we often arrive at unexpected destinations.

Roles Breakdown:
Ruthie (already cast)
Bill (already cast)
Richard – eldest son, one-time football hero out to conquer the world, “up to the second” stylish, late 20s at start and, as does everyone, ages 30 years
Maddie – second child, strong-willed aspiring actress, only child who moved away, mid-20s at start
Thomas – son two, the “good” son, studying for the priesthood at the beginning, mid-20s at start
